Barrel sauna with a round glass front standing on a wooden deck in a forest

A barrel sauna in Azerbaijan costs roughly 6,000–12,000 AZN in 2026. The lower end is a compact 2–3 person sauna in standard spec; the upper end is a 6-person barrel with premium interior wood, a panoramic glass wall and a front terrace. Below we break down where the money goes, what’s worth paying for, what isn’t, and how to get an exact quote quickly.

Barrel sauna price at a glance

Option Capacity What you get Price guide
Compact 2–3 people One room, linden interior, standard stove Lower part of the range
Family 4 people Longer body, comfortable benches Middle of the range
Spacious / premium 5–6 people Long body, premium wood, glass, terrace Upper part of the range
Overall range 2–6 people 6,000–12,000 AZN

Treat this as a guide. The final figure is calculated for your size and spec — two barrels with the same capacity can cost different amounts depending on finish and options.

What drives the price

1. Length and capacity

A barrel’s diameter stays roughly the same; what changes capacity is mainly the length of the body. A longer barrel needs more timber, more insulation, more steel bands and a more powerful stove. That’s why capacity is the single biggest price factor.

A practical tip: size the sauna for how many people usually bathe together, not for the biggest party you might host once a year. Extra volume costs money and takes longer to heat.

2. Interior wood

The exterior is the same on every barrel — water-resistant, thermally treated larch (“listvenica”, often called ship timber). The difference is the interior lining:

  • Linden (lipa) — the default: resin-free, smooth, light-coloured, never burns your skin.
  • Cedar — natural essential oils, a lovely scent and antibacterial properties.
  • Abachi and African abachi — very low heat conductivity, the go-to bench material.
  • Teak — a premium look and excellent durability.

Premium wood raises the price, but you don’t have to upgrade everything. A smart compromise is linden walls with abachi benches — the benches are what your body actually touches.

3. Stove type

A barrel sauna can run on an electric or a wood-burning stove. Electric is the most convenient for frequent use; wood gives a classic bathhouse atmosphere and doesn’t need a heavy-duty power line. Barrel Sauna supplies and installs Harvia, SAWO, Teplodar, TMF and Fanlan stoves, with output matched to the sauna’s volume. Browse them on the sauna heaters page.

4. Glass

A classic barrel has a small window in the door or back wall. A panoramic glass back wall or a fully glazed front changes the whole experience: you sit on the bench and look out at your garden, the mountains or the forest. It costs more, but on a site with a view it’s one of the upgrades that pays off most.

5. Front terrace

On some barrels, part of the body is set aside as a small covered terrace in front of the door — a place to cool down between rounds and leave towels and clothes. A terrace lengthens the body, so it affects the price.

6. Extras

  • LED lighting
  • Decor: decorative stones, Himalayan salt panels
  • Accessories: bucket, ladle, thermometer, sauna hats

What’s worth paying for

Always worth it:

  • A correctly sized stove. Too weak won’t reach sauna temperature; too strong is money wasted.
  • Good bench wood. It’s where comfort is felt most.
  • Glass, if you have a view. Mountains or a garden behind glass transform every session.

Can be added later:

  • Decor and most accessories.
  • Extra lighting scenes.

Where not to cut corners: the body construction. Every Barrel Sauna barrel has a multilayer wall (mineral stone wool + a moisture-proof membrane), a double-shield roof (tegola shingles over roofing felt) and adjustable steel bands that let you re-tighten the body as the wood naturally shrinks with the seasons.

Costs to plan for beyond the sauna

  • Base. The sauna sits on a level, solid, well-drained surface: a concrete slab, paving stones or screw piles. If you already have a suitable pad, this may cost nothing.
  • Power. An electric stove needs a suitable supply line.
  • Cool-down zone. A shower, a cold plunge or a hot tub — many owners add one next to the barrel.

How to get an exact price

  1. Message us on WhatsApp with a couple of photos of the spot where the sauna will go.
  2. Tell us the capacity — how many people will usually use it together.
  3. Stove — electric, wood, or undecided.
  4. Wishes — glass, terrace, wood type, lighting.

With that, we’ll suggest a size and spec and give you an exact price. You can compare the ranges for every model on our sauna prices page.

Barrel or cube?

A cube sauna also seats 2–6 people and sits in the same 6,000–12,000 AZN range. The barrel heats faster and has more character; the cube gives you straight walls and a little more headroom. It mostly comes down to taste and the style of your garden. All shapes are in outdoor saunas.

What to check if you find a cheaper offer

You’ll come across lower prices. When comparing quotes, look beyond the headline figure at what’s actually included:

  • What is the body made of? Outdoors you need water-resistant, thermally treated timber.
  • Is there insulation and a membrane in the wall? A single layer of boards won’t hold heat in winter.
  • How is the roof covered? A double shield against rain and snow means a longer life.
  • Are the bands adjustable? To compensate for natural wood shrinkage.
  • Which stove brand, and is its output right for the volume?

Two barrels at the same price can answer these questions very differently — and a few years on, that’s where the difference shows.

FAQ

How much is the cheapest barrel sauna?

Barrel sauna prices start at around 6,000 AZN for a compact model in standard spec. The exact figure depends on size and stove.

How much is a 6-person barrel sauna?

A 6-person barrel sits near the top of the range — up to 12,000 AZN, especially with premium wood, panoramic glass and a terrace.

Wood or electric stove — which is better value?

A wood stove avoids running a heavy power line; an electric one is more convenient for frequent use. It depends on your site and habits — we’ll help you decide during the consultation.

Is installation included?

Delivery and installation terms are confirmed per project and address. Barrel Sauna works across all of Azerbaijan, and everything is itemised in your quote.

Can I add options later?

Yes — accessories, lighting, a plunge tub or a hot tub can all be added later. Glass and a terrace, however, are part of the structure and are best planned from the start.
